A Skyrunning World Youth Championships it will only be two weeks to catch your breath before diving into the 2021 World Youth Championships and seeing the future stars of skyrunning emerge in the spectacular resort of L'aquila, Abruzzo, from July 30 to August 1, 2021.
After the postponement of 2020, the fifth edition of the Youth Championships will see 187 athletes between the ages of 15 and 23 from 26 countries compete for the 54 medals.
On friday 30 july young skyrunners will show up at Gran Sasso Vertical Run start line, a race of 3,8 km and 1.000m positive climb wich reaches 2.130m altitude.
After a rest day the young riders will face the tough Gran Sasso SkyRace® of 23 km and 2,369 m of positive climb.
The youth a category, which includes athletes between 15 and 17 years old, runs on a reduced route. In 2019 the Youth Championships considered the record participation of 200 young athletes from 28 countries, with 13 countries taking home medals.
The Youth Skyrunning World Championships are held annually and aim to develop and promote the sport for the future.
FISky, the Italian Skyrunning Federation, an Italian member of the ISF, will sponsor the events and provide referees. WADA anti-doping tests will be carried out at The Championships. The skyrunning summer season 2021 is already warming up with these two important events. More news will follow about the 2021 European Championships to be held in Portugal in November.
